How To
Important installation note
After installing and activating the theme, you need to navigate to Settings > Permalinks and click on the ââ¬ÅSave Changesââ¬Â button, even if you havenââ¬â¢t made any changes. This is to register the custom post types used in the theme.
You also need to navigate to Settings > Reading and set front page to display “Your latest posts” if you have previously had a static page as your front page.
Setup Featured Slider
The Delegate home page featured slider pulls the custom “slides” post type. The number of slides depends on how many slides you have published. You can set the animation speed, auto start and slide interval under the theme options, the rest of the slide functionality is added via the slides panel documented below.
Adding a slide
To add a slide simply follow these steps:
- Go to Slides > Add New.
- Type a title for the slide and complete all of the postââ¬â¢s body content.
- Add a “Slider Image” in the Custom Settings panel if you want to display an image in the slide.
- Publish the slide.
Add buttons to slider page
To add a button to a page in the featured area, you need to add some html code by using the HTML tab. Simply add a link with the class button

Setting up the rest of the home page:
The idea behind Delegate was that it would be used by corporates to showcase their products/services, whilst also offering a blog that is optional on the home page or can be less prominent and found only via the navigation menu.
Go to the Delegate Options > “Home Page” tab. Here you can now decide whether to show your latest posts below the slider or a particular page content (like we have opted for in the demo).
The Delegate Homepage settings
The WordPress page we created to dedicate to the home page.
As can be seen in the above screenshot, by ticking the “Show Blog on Home Page” the page content will not be replaced by the latest posts from the blog.
Setting up the blog
Setting up the blog correctly so that it appears with a “Blog” menu item in the top navigation bar is very simple:
- Create a new page.
- Give it a title of “Blog” or “Latest News”, etc.
- Leave the content section blank.
- Set the template under “Attributes” to “Blog” (as demonstrated below in the screenshot).
- Publish the page.

The theme has a normal sidebar which is the same on all pages, but you can easily setup a unique sidebar (e.g. for the homepage) by using our new Sidebar Manager.
Note: You will need to go to Design > Widgets to add any widgets to these spaces.

The theme includes 5 custom widgets that you can add to your widgetized area:
