The home page of Bold News explained

Setting up the home page

The home page of Bold News is largely widget based, with 4 regions available for placement of custom woo widgets in the footer and 3 sidebar regions. The featured slider can easily be disabled (more information in the next “How To” section) in the theme options.

Adding your social media profile links will add the icon for that profile in the header menu, as well as on the single post page in the “About the post” module.

Adding widgets to the widgetized regions is easy on the Appearance > Widgets page

Setting up the featured slider

The home page featured slider can be used to display noteworthy blog posts – this is because it is tag based. Once you have specified the tag it must loop through to display posts, make sure you add that tag to the blog posts you want to feature. It will display the title of the post, the excerpt, and the optional, but important, custom image which is the focal point of the panel.

Adding the tag to the post is important, as is specifying the image to use in the “Bold News Custom Settings” panel below the WYSIWYG editor on the Add/Edit post form.

Remember to tag your posts with your featured panel tag defined in the theme options.

You can then also exclude the blog posts displayed in the featured slider from the blog module below on the home page. Just tick the box at the bottom of the “Slider” theme options.
