Setting up the home page

The home page of Boast is largely widget based, with 9 regions available for placement of custom woo widgets. The featured panel can be easily disabled (more information in the next “How To” section), and with widgets not placed in the regions the home page can be kept minimal only displaying blog posts.

The few home page theme options required to be set up. Everything else is customizable via the featured panel settings and the widget placements.
Simply drag and drop some widgets for the home page section below the featured panel.

Setting up the featured panel

The home page featured panel can be used to display noteworthy blog posts – this is because it is tag based. Once you have specified the tag it must loop through to display posts, make sure you add that tag to the blog posts you want to feature. It will display the title of the post, the excerpt, and the optional, but important, custom image which is the focal point of the panel.

The Featured Panel Set Up for Boast

Adding the tag to the post is important, as is specifying the image to use in the “Boast Custom Settings” panel below the WYSIWYG editor on the Add/Edit post form.

Remember to tag your posts with your featured panel tag defined in the theme options.
